Offsetting Your Summertime Carbon Footprint

If you feel like you’ve been stuck inside in the Texas heat this summer watching too many hours of Directstartv, take our suggestions for ways you can help offset your summertime carbon footprint here in Houston. Every little bit helps!
Bathe Your Dog: That’s right, use water! Plug your bathtub while you take a shower to reserve the water. Don’t worry that it’s soapy! Fido won’t mind the extra suds and you’ll get to repurpose your wasted water. That’s smart thinking.
Call Your Electricity Company: Across the nation, energy providers are trying to get people to switch to high-efficiency bulbs. They’re better for the environment and save you money and many companies offer incentives or free bulbs to get you to switch.
Cultivate Your Garden: It’s not too late to plant some sustainable vegetables for this year’s harvest. Get some tomatoes and peppers going and go ahead and work on your carrots and onions that will be ready to pick in the fall!
If you’ve got some suggestions for ways other Houstonites can give back to their eco-community please leave them in the comments below!
